Some of our favorite attractions are hidden away in the most inconspicuous places, some of them even being tucked away inside larger attractions in themselves like a mall. Taking you to the only aquarium that you'll find within the Capital Region, see why we can't get enough of all that Via Aquarium has to offer.
Inside of what was formerly known as the Rotterdam Mall, today New Yorkers can head out to Schenectady to enjoy the Capital Region's only aquarium.
All throughout Via Aquarium, you can find interactive experiences...
...where you can crawl up inside of fish tanks, enjoy photo opportunities, and other up-close experiences here at the aquarium.
Home to more than 2,000 creatures of the sea, you'll see everyone from Nemo to actual sharks while you're here.
One of our absolute favorite parts about Via Aquarium though is their magnificent tunnel.
At the end of the aquarium before you leave, you can walk through the tunnel where the entire aquarium stretches all up above you.
Putting all sorts of oceanic creatures right at your eye-level and also up above you, you'll never want to leave this area of the aquarium.
Don't you wish every hallway could be like this?
The aquarium's mesmerizing tunnel isn't the only thing that you'll love about this place though.
As we said, there are all sorts of interactive experiences that await you at Via Aquarium, what you might not have realized though is that many of these experiences are completely hands-on.
Every day at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., visitors at the aquarium can hand-feed the stingrays!
Swimming right up to you, you'll be able to pet and feed the stingrays as they glide all throughout their tank.
