Unfortunately, swimming is not permitted at Gallagher Beach due to potential toxins in the water and the lack of a lifeguard on duty, but that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the water.

Just because you can't swim in the water doesn't mean you can't get in the water nonetheless! This Buffalo beach is a great starting spot for a fun-filled day of kayaking on the lake. You'll even have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Buffalo's impressive wind turbines.

There's enough activity here to spend the entire day.

Pack a picnic and dine under one of the park's archways, lay out a blanket on the grassy area in the park, lace up your sneakers for a walk on the paths, or even head across the street to Tifft Nature Preserve. The opportunities are endless!

Take in the scenery morning, noon, or night.

While Gallagher Beach is popular during sunny afternoons, it's also a great location when the sun goes down. Walk to the end of the pier for stunning views of the city.
