When it comes to visiting animal parks, many of us grew up with memories from making an annual trip to places like the Catskill Game Farm. Sadly it's now been over ten years since that favorite spot has closed its doors for good, forcing our residents to find other hidden gems around our state to bring our families to. Luckily we have another unique park that you'll love and should be visited by all at least once. Ready to find out about the next day trip destination you'll want to experience? Then keep scrolling to find out more!
Within the town of Broadalbin in Fulton County, there's an amazing place called Adirondack Animal Land.
A wonderful place to take the whole family, the wildlife park has 80-acres of farm land tucked away within the foothills of the Adirondacks.
A family owned and operated park, here you'll be able to find a variety of interactive experiences with animals waiting for you.
Made up of black top pathways, the park makes things easy for those coming with strollers and is also almost entirely handicapped accessible.
You'll find plenty of shaded picnic areas throughout the park as well as an old Western town that has a barber shop, general store, jail, bank, post office and other buildings that the family can explore.
Make your way to the very end of Animal Land and you'll find the Deer Park, where you can enter and walk amongst a mass amount of deer that you can feed and roam around with!
The park has a wide variety of animals like prairie dogs, different kinds of monkeys, capybara, peacocks, wolves, ring-tailed lemus, bears and so much more.
But the attraction that you'll hear talked about the most is Adirondack Animal Land's Safari Ride.
With admission to the park everyone will receive one ticket that gains them access to the Safari Ride.
Bringing you through a separate part of Adirondack Animal Land that you can only access through the safari, you'll enjoy a ride that gets you up close to exotic animals.
The most friendly of animals are usually the camels, coming right up to you on the ride and known for giving guests slobbery kisses and warm welcomes.
Other animals like ostriches and buffalo will also trail behind closely and walk along the safari ride too, being just as curious about you as you are about them. And be sure to keep an eye out for unhatched eggs along the way!
Open from 10AM to 5PM now through Labor Day, Adirondack Animal Land will provide you with a day trip that you'll never forget.
This destination is one you'll have to experience for yourself to fully appreciate, with playgrounds throughout the park for smaller visitors, a country kitchen where you can eat outdoors and plenty of opportunities to hand feed the different animals that are here. The park has the largest collection of animals and largest animal petting area in the Adirondack area. On your way out you can also shop around the park's souvenir shop so you can take home a piece of this memory!
