An attraction that's open all throughout the year, the Medina Railroad Museum has something exciting to offer visitors during the month of May. Ready for a day full of fun that the entire family can enjoy? Then keep reading to find out why you'll love this small town museum.
Out in Orleans County roughly an hour away from both Rochester and Buffalo, the Medina Railroad Museum is the perfect day trip for your whole family to enjoy.
Open all year long, the Medina Railroad Museum has a wide variety of things for you to see.
Still equipped with an old-time ticket window, pieces of local history are scattered all through this museum.
One of the main features of the railroad museum is the fact that it has one of the largest model train layouts in the country.
204-feet long and 14-feet wide, the miniature train layout has been continuously growing since 2001.
An enormous display unlike anything else you'll find in New York, you'll be wowed by all of the small details that make up this layout.
Paying homage to the fact that the Heinz Pickle Factory used to also be in the area, you can see a huge Heinz pickle on display near the Miniature Train Layout.
Visitors also love planning trips to the Medina Railroad Museum during the spring for their popular Day Out With Thomas train rides and events.
A day full of Thomas-themed events and fun, your ticket to hop aboard Thomas the Tank will also give you admission to the museum as well.
Coming to the Medina Railroad Museum this year on May 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th, your Day Out With Thomas will feature a 25-minute train ride, kids activities like face painting, bounce houses, and more.
So come meet Sir Topham Hatt and Thomas the Tank this spring or simply enjoy a day soaking up all the history that's here at this museum, you won't regret it.
From miniature train displays and historic firefighter equipment to large pickles and a gift shop full of things to take home with you, everyone will enjoy visiting the Medina Railroad Museum. To find out more and to buy your train tickets for the Day Out With Thomas, click here.
