1. Kaaterskill Falls Viewing Platform - Greene County
Waiting for you at the top of a 260-foot waterfall is the Kaaterskill Falls Viewing Platform. While many choose to enjoy this natural wonderful from the base of the falls, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Northern Catskills if you hang out up on the overlook. Giving you a stunning view of the first tier of this waterfall and everything that's down below, you'll undoubtedly feel speechless from this spot.
2. OK Slip Falls Overlook - Indian Lake
One of the tallest waterfalls that you can find in the Adirondacks, OK Slip Falls stands at roughly 200-feet tall. One of the ways that you can reach a view of this hidden gem is to hike a 3-mile long trail that will take you to a beautiful overlook. The overlook will give you a perfect view of the waterfall and the gorgeous Adirondack forest that surrounds it.
3. Skytop Tower - New Paltz
If you get the opportunity to explore the over 80-miles of trails that are hidden away at the Mohonk Mountain House, then you'll want to be sure to follow the road that leads to the Skytop Tower. Those looking for the easier route can follow a path that takes you up to the tower, while others who are in search of a major adventure can make their way through the Lemon Squeeze. Giving you stunning views of the hotel, Mohonk Lake and surrounding mountains, you can see for miles once you're at this stunning spot.
4. Gore Mountain Scenic Gondola Ride - North Creek
You may be use to heading up to Gore Mountain to enjoy New York's wintery weather and outdoor activities, but have you ever taken a ride on their scenic gondola? Open on the weekends, the beautiful ride will give you amazing views of the Adirondacks and also bring you to an overlook that will give you views you'll fall in love with.
5. Taughannock Falls Overlook - Trumansburg
Just one of the many breathtaking waterfalls that you can find hiding around the lower half of Cayuga Lake, the Taughannock Falls Overlook will give you a picture-perfect view of what this well-known state park has to offer. The overlook can be found just off of Taughannock Park Road and is an easier alternative for those who aren't interested in hiking along the Gorge Trail.
6. Rock Island Lighthouse State Park - Clayton
Those who find themselves out in the Thousand Islands region can make their way to Rock Island Lighthouse State Park. From this scenic state park you'll be able to climb the spiral staircase of this historic lighthouse, with a view at the top that will give you a unique look at the St. Lawrence River.
7. Trophy Point - West Point
Anyone who's ever had the pleasure of visiting West Point knows just how stunning of a destination it is. Visit the oldest continually occupied military post in our country and enjoy the scenic overlook at is Trophy Point. 8. Cliff Edge Overlook - Voorheesville
With so much to explore within John Boyd Thacher Park, you may find yourself feeling tired at the end of the day. But if you're looking to enjoy one last view that won't require an inch of effort on your part, then drive to the Cliff Edge Overlook. Here you'll find a parking lot that gives you views of the Capital Region and Escarpment, even featuring public binoculars that you can use to get an even more interesting view.
9. Walkway Over The Hudson - Poughkeepsie
Putting you right above the river, the Walkway Over The Hudson is an easily accessible overlook that doesn't disappoint. The walkway itself is just over a mile long and stands at over 200-feet tall, allowing you to have panoramic views of the Hudson Valley and beautiful towns that line the banks of the water.
10. Letchworth State Park - Castile
All throughout Letchworth State Park you'll find a variety of overlooks that will give you unforgettable views of the park. Head to Middle Falls and you'll find one of our favorite overlooks, where you can see the grand waterfall for yourself at a close distance.
11. Cohoes Falls - Cohoes
One of the most easily accessible waterfalls that you can discover in New York, Cohoes Falls can be seen from Falls View Park. Just off of the road, the park is made up of handfuls of overlooks so you won't have to worry too much about sharing the view with anyone else.
