New York may be best-known for its eponymous city, but the state is so much more than New York City. There is an abundance of natural beauty in The Empire State (Letchworth State Park -- we're looking at you!), and it's just waiting to be explored! This is certainly the case with OK Slip Falls, a glorious waterfall in New York. For the very best view of this hidden gem, you'll hike the OK Slip Falls Trail, a gorgeous forest trail that will take you straight to a hidden overlook.
At 250 feet tall, OK Slip Falls is one of the biggest, most wondrous waterfalls in upstate New York.
The falls are located in Adirondack Park - 6 million acres of lush forests, scenic vistas, and total Empire State splendor.
To see the falls in person, however, you'll need to put in a little work. (But it's worth it!)
The trail to OK Slip Falls is part of the Hudson Gorge Wilderness Area. This hike is six miles out and back, making it perfect for a day trip.
This is a popular and highly used trail, and the footpath is well-marked and easy to follow.
The OK Slip Falls Trail winds through some of the most picture-perfect parts of Adirondack Park.
These forests are home to some truly magnificent trees, including red maple, beech, birches, aspens, white pine, and eastern hemlock.
Because you'll be marveling at the lush forest landscape, the three miles to the overlook will go by quickly. Don't forget to stop and savor the scenery -- and look up!
After three miles, the forest opens up, the trees and rocks aligning just right to create a natural overlook that perfectly frames OK Slip Falls.
While the viewing area is safely framed by large trees, remember that it's technically on a cliffside, so be careful!
This hidden overlook is the perfect place to stop and take a deep breath. Trust us -- you won't be in a hurry to leave!
This magnificent overlook is something you really must experience in person. Visit AllTrails to learn more about the OK Slip Falls Trail -- it's so worth the six-mile hike!
