Giant Mountain boasts some pretty incredible views from its summit, even when compared to the state's tallest peaks. Take a trip to this towering mountain in Adirondack Park (it's the 12th-highest among the Adirondack High Peaks), and you'll have three trails to choose from when deciding how exactly to summit one of the prettiest peaks in the region. Just make sure you're well-prepared for a potentially strenuous journey.
At 4,627 feet, Giant Mountain is the 12th-highest peak in the Adirondacks and overlooks the beautiful Keene Valley.
There are three great hikes in the area that lead to Giant Mountain, including Roaring Brook Trail, Zander Scott Trail, and North Trail, which span from 3.2 miles to 7.4 miles in length.
The mountain's relative seclusion from other peaks makes its towering presence in the Keene Valley even more awe-inspiring.
For beautiful views of a waterfall, hit the Roaring Brook Trail, a trail that runs through the scenic forest, to the top of Roaring Brook Falls and eventually to the summit of Giant Mountain.
There is even a campsite near Giant's Washbowl for those interested in spending the night on one of the tallest mountains in the state.
The North Trail is a great option for any explorers who are looking to take a longer route through this one-of-a-kind landscape. Check out Owl Head Lookout on this 7.4-mile adventure to the summit.
While adventurers sometimes snowshoe up Giant Mountain, it is recommended that they have at least some prior experience snowshoeing across mountainous terrain.
Hit the Zander Scott Trail, which acts as an excellent tour of a few landmarks on your way up the mountain, including Chapel Pond and Giant's Washbowl.
While these hikes can be incredibly challenging, you won't find a more scenic adventure in New York.
If you still have time to explore the region outside of this daring exploration, head northwest to Lake Placid and explore one of the most unique and beautiful towns in the Adirondacks. Or make it a tour and stop through Saranac Lake as well!
