As the snow continues to fall during this winter in New York, we're seeing more and more of our favorite state parks and familiar landscapes change with the season. Many residents have already crossed Letchworth State Park off of their Empire State bucket list, but what many have failed to do is pay this award-winning destination a visit during our coldest months. New York winters can be cold and brutal, but there's so much beauty out there to see and explore, too! Are you ready to see our ultimate winter wonderland? Then be sure to check out Letchworth State Park in winter before the glorious winter season passes you by. This park is amazing at any time of year, and it's especially beautiful in the winter.
Out in Wyoming County where you're away from it all in Western New York, Letchworth State Park is the very definition of an absolute must-see.
Covering more than 14,000-acres, with jaw-dropping views of waterfalls like these that are cascading down along the Genesee River, you'll find yourself speechless as you explore this state park.
Throughout the park, you'll find handfuls of overlooks...
...and viewing points that are equipped with coin-operated binoculars and views that you'll never forget.
As much as we love gazing at the view of 600-foot-tall cliffs that make up the gorge the Genesee River has carved out, it's the numerous waterfalls within the park that truly steal our breath away.
Along the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park, you'll be able to see three major waterfalls — Upper, Lower, and Middle Falls.
Whether you're snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or snowmobiling your way through Letchworth State Park, you'll find a variety of ways to soak in the views of these falls.
If you find yourself completely smitten over the falls, you can even book a stay in one of the park's cabins that stay open throughout the winter!
From cozy cabin getaways and staying at the Glen Iris Inn to snow tubing and cross-country skiing, you'll find all sorts of ways to enjoy Letchworth State Park during Western New York's winter months.
