Despite the fact that the month of May is almost entirely behind us, the majority of New York has still been experiencing rainy days that should've remained in April. Only making us further appreciate the beautiful weather that we do get, our residents have been running for the hills at any sight of sunshine. A great way to make the most of your time, exploring this one hiking trail will make you feel like you've left the Empire State.
One of our favorite places to visit, Robert H. Treman State Park is a popular hiking destination in the city of Ithaca.
Highly anticipated, the park's Gorge Trail finally reopened to the public this past week.
You'll find that lots of visitors will start to come here to take advantage of swimming in the natural pool at the base of Enfield Falls, but it's the Gorge Trail you absolutely need to see.
A trail that gives you a view of handfuls of waterfalls throughout the park, this trail embodies the true meaning of Ithaca is Gorges.
Explore the 2-mile long trail and eventually you'll reach the park's 115-foot waterfall, Lucifer Falls.
With a winding stone staircase that will remind you of your favorite magical worlds, you can see for miles down the gorge and lower half of the park from this part of the trail.
Make your way down the staircase and you'll see that the base of Lucifer Falls makes for a great place to cool off.
Made up of breathtaking waterfalls, remarkable stone bridges, serene natural wonders and swimming spots, the Gorge Trail is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
A destination you'll have a hard time pulling yourself away from, you'll never grow tired of taking adventures along Robert H. Treman's Gorge Trail in Tompkins County.
Who said beautiful hikes have to be intense and strenuous? At Robert H. Treman you can take your time exploring the Gorge Trail, leisurely making your way through the park to soak in all of the tranquil views. To find out more information about this hike you can view the official trail map here or check out the state park's Facebook Page to stay up to date.
