Not only do we get to live in a city that sits along the beautiful waterfront, Buffalo also has the luxury of being in close proximity to heart-stopping natural wonders like Niagara Falls and Eternal Flame Falls. If you take the time to look outside the spotlight cast on popular places like these, you'll find even more spectacular waterfalls in Erie County that will completely captivate you.
With Buffalo's fall foliage expected to peak by October 8th, you might be looking for leisurely outdoor adventures to take over the next month.
A great oasis just over a half-hour outside of the heart of Buffalo is Akron Falls County Park, which comes to life with fall's gorgeous yellow and red colors during this time of year.
The 280-acre park features hiking trails that take you by the water and lead you through the quiet forests.
Along the way you'll get to see small waterfalls cascade down Murder Creek, creating a relaxing soundtrack (despite its ominous name) to your outdoor fall adventure.
But the most beautiful view in the entire park waits for you towards the end of your hike, when you'll finally stand before Akron Falls.
Flowing down 40 feet, Akron Falls looks like nothing you'd expect to find so close to Buffalo, with alluring features that will keep you mesmerized.
And, after a little bit of rain, this waterfall completely transforms into something you won't believe.
Open all throughout the year and free to visit, there's no excuse not to come and explore one of our favorite Erie County parks for a fall day that'll be one for the books.
A quick drive takes you out to the charming town of Akron, and Akron Falls County Park is a day trip worth taking this year. Before winter arrives and we head out here to ice skate along Murder Creek, make sure you pay a visit while the foliage is decorating this park and creating colorful scenery for all to see.
