From up in the Adirondacks to down in the Catskills and out in Western New York and the Finger Lakes, you'll find many of the best apple orchards in New York. These charming places are perfect destinations for a day trip.
1. Rulfs Orchard - Peru
Just off of the Northway up by Lake Champlain, Rulfs Orchard is a delightful place to experience. Taking you up into the Adirondacks where scenic beauty is constantly surrounding you, this farm has been a local favorite spot to visit for ages. 2. Hurd Orchards - Holley
When it comes to apple picking in New York, no place beats Hurd Orchards. Open every year from May through December, Hurd Orchards can be found not too far from the city of Rochester and the shores of Lake Ontario. A great place to go apple picking if you're out in Orleans County, you'll always be able to find an abundance of apples waiting for you here. Address: 17260 Ridge Road Holley, NY, 14470.
3. Adams Acres Organic Apples - Jamesville
Just outside of Syracuse in Central New York is the family-owned orchard, Adams Acres. Producing great-tasting organic apples, they currently have their picking season open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. 4. Kelder's Farm - Kerhonkson
Make your way down to the Catskills and not only will you find an amazing farm that's worth visiting, but you'll also get to meet the world's third-largest garden gnome! At Kelder's Farm, you can pick your own apples amongst other fruits and vegetables and go for scenic hayrides, make your way through the corn maze, see friendly faces at the petting zoo, and even milk a cow! 5. Owen Orchards - Weedsport
A spot that's been around in the Finger Lakes since roughly the 1930s, Owen Orchards has 15 different kinds of apples that you'll be able to pick throughout their fall season. 6. Becker Farms - Gasport
An over 300-acre farm that's been in the family for five generations, Becker Farms is about as charming as it gets. Part of Niagara County just ten minutes outside of the city of Lockport, the farm currently has Macintosh, Cortland, and Macoun apples in season that are ready to pick. The best part? 7. Abbott Farms - Baldwinsville
Another spot you can find just outside of Syracuse, the town of Baldwinsville is home to Abbott Farms! The farm has its own Country Store and even provides educational tours so you can learn more about things work around here. Abbott Farms keeps the fall hours until October 31st, with the U-Pick hours being 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sundays. 8. Kaneb Orchards - Massena
You might not be able to actually pick the apples right off of the trees at Kaneb Orchards, but you'll be able to find the most tasty apples waiting for you in large wooden crates outside.
