It looks like spring is officially here, which means you need to be spending as much time outdoors as possible! We only have a small window before we are in the sweltering summer heat, so be sure to take advantage of this lovely weather! Here are the 9 very best places to go in New Orleans this spring
1. City Park Wildflowers
If you’ve never seen these wildflower fields, you’re in for a real treat. These fields are bursting with color during the springtime and well worth your time to take a leisurely stroll to admire the striking colors. You can find them at Marconi and Roosevelt Mall.
2. City Park Botanical Gardens
While you’re in the area, swing by the botanical gardens for a delightful stroll through the well manicured lawns and gardens.
3. New Orleans Home & Garden Show
Pick up some new additions for your home at this wonderful event. Hundreds of vendors come out plus there will be cooking demonstrations, seminars, and workshops all built into the weekend. It takes place March 9-11 at the Superdome.
4. Beauregard-Keyes House
Built in 1826, the Beauregard-Keyes house is like stepping back into another time. Restored to its glory days in 1926, a tour inside this historic home is not to be missed. Not only is the tour of the building a wonderful history lesson, but the outside gardens are simply spectacular. 1113 Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA 70116.
5. Wednesdays at the Square
Returning on March 14, music lovers will love dancing the night away to the tunes of some of the most talented local musicians in the city. The free concert series takes place every Wednesday from 5pm-8pm in Lafayette Square.
6. Top Taco
Everyone loves tacos, right? What better way to celebrate than to come out to this fun festival where you can try dozens of tacos and signature cocktails from restaurants around the city. March 15th, 7pm-10pm at Woldenberg Park.
7. Lafreniere Park
Head on over to Metairie to enjoy a relaxing afternoon surrounded by beautiful green space. Metairie’s largest park features two large playgrounds, multiple picnic benches, a two mile walking path, sports fields, a disc gold course, a lake, tons of wildlife, and so much more.
8. Louisiana Crawfish Festival
Held in St. Bernard Parish, the Louisiana Crawfish Festival has been one of the more popular festivals since it began in 1975. Come enjoy live music, carnival rides, games, and of course, good ole’ Louisiana crawfish. The festival takes place March 22-25 at the Sigur Cultural Center in Chalmette.
9. Barataria Preserve
Come take a stroll through the swamps! The trails at Barataria Preserve are all less than 3 miles, so you can mix and match depending on your day. Each of the boardwalk trails will lead you through the swamps with stunning scenery. 6588 Barataria Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072.
