While Celebration in the Oaks is certainly a must-see if you’re on the prowl for holiday light displays in New Orleans, there’s another, smaller park located just outside of New Orleans with a holiday light display that will put you smack dab in the middle of the holiday spirit, and that’s over at Lafreniere Park. Let’s take a closer look.
Nestled in good old Metairie, Lafreniere Park is one of the crown jewels of Jefferson Parish as far as public parks are concerned.
The 155-acre park is a natural oasis for anyone looking to get away from the city for an hour or two. Beautiful nature trails, peaceful lagoons, a carousel, and an 18-hole disc-golf course are just a few of the attractions you can enjoy here.
During the month of December, Lafreniere Park transforms into a magical holiday display that you have to see to believe.
Starting on December 4, 2020 at dusk, Lafreniere Park will be illuminated with over a million LED lights scattered throughout the park.
From the lagoon to the entrance, practically everywhere you look will be twinkling with gorgeous displays.
Magical castles, a 60-foot sea serpent, and all your favorite Christmas characters will be putting on quite the show.
The lights will be turned on at 5 p.m. every evening from December 4, 2020 - December 30, 2020.
Admission is only $5, so bring the whole family to enjoy this magical event.
Sunday through Thursday, the lights will remain on until 9:45 p.m. and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
For ticketing information, check out their website and be sure to give them a follow on Facebook, too.
