Located in the tiny town of Darrow, the Houmas House Plantation was built in 1840 and is one of the most visited plantations on River Road.
The Greek Revival mansion is open for daily tours and is also offers charming cottages available for rent for those looking for a weekend getaway.

These lush gardens span an impressive 38 acres, and truly come alive in the springtime.
It’s the perfect place for a tranquil walk.
You’ll be surrounded by both indigenous Louisiana and exotic plantlike that come alive every April and November.
The water features in each courtyard will make you think you’ve stepped into a Monet painting.
There are several sitting areas where you can sit for a spell underneath the majestic oak trees while listening to the symphony of sounds from the songbirds nearby.
It might just be one of the most beautiful places in Louisiana.
