Driving in New Orleans can seem more like an extreme sport. Cars merging into your lane without warning, drivers speeding through red lights, bicyclists zig-zagging through the streets and all the while you’re dodging massive potholes. And that’s all before rush hour! As you’re sitting in traffic you may think, "no one knows how to drive," but actually, quite the opposite! The folks at QuoteWizard.com released a survey and it turns out New Orleans has some of the best drivers in the nation!
Getting behind the wheel during rush hour traffic can be a blood-pressure rising, temper flaring, frustrating addition to your day.
Sometimes it can feel like the Wild Wild West, with everyone making new road rules as they go. We’ve all undoubtedly witnessed some truly scary driving behaviors in your time weaving throughout the Crescent City.
QuoteWizard.com recently released a survey which reported both the best and worst drivers in the country, and the results may surprise you.
They looked at millions of insurance quotes from the largest 75 cities in the United States.
They based their results on four factors:
The number of speeding tickets issued
2. The number of traffic accidents reported
3. DUIs
4. The number of citations, which include running a red light, using a cell phone while driving, etc.)
Cities that had the highest rates of incidents were rated among the worst drivers in the country, while cities with the lowest rates of incidents were some of the best driving cities.
The top 3 worst driving cities in America include Portland, Boise, and Virginia Beach.
New Orleans ranked eighth on the best driving cities in America, coming in right between St. Louis and Fort Myers. The top three best driving cities reported were Detroit, Louisville, and Chicago.
So there you go! Well done, Crescent City commuters!
Keep up the good work.
