Summer is meant for good weather, some time off work, and stellar adventures! If you're feeling adventurous and wish to explore the Land of Enchantment, what do you have in mind? Will it be a scenic drive, camping, or what about finding a hidden waterfall swimming hole in New Mexico? Today, we will discuss the latter because it's time to make plans to discover Jemez Falls and take a dip in its pool.
Within the Santa Fe National Forest is where you'll find Jemez Falls. This lovely waterfall in New Mexico, complete with a swimming hole, is easily accessed via the East Fork Trail.
Just park your car in the paved parking lot by the trailhead. There are toilet facilities here as well.
Before you head out on the hike, however, make sure you packed water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, a swimsuit, and water shoes. It's always best to be prepared no matter how long or short of a hike you're taking.
This 0.7-mile out-and-back trail is rated as easy and is shaded by tall pine trees. It will lead to a gorgeous waterfall and you can wade in its pool.
At the end of the trail, you'll encounter an overlook that gives a bird's eye view of the falls. Take it all in because it's beautiful!
From the end of the trail, you can trek down to the waterfall and get into the pool. Keep in mind that it's shallow so you won't be able to do a full swim.
However, taking a dip, especially during the summer months, is a great way to cool off during a hike in New Mexico. And doesn't that sound refreshing?
