Fall might pass by quickly in the Land of Enchantment, but before the bright yellow leaves of the aspen trees go away, one of the best ways to see the foliage is to take a nature hike. This hike is under two miles, so it's the perfect length for anyone of any ability. This trail goes right through one of Santa Fe's most beautiful nature preserves and is full of wildlife, ponds, and trees, so you'll love every single step.

There's so much to see upon this little hike. The nature preserve is filled with wildflowers, willows, pines, and dozens of other flowers and trees that are bursting will fall colors.
On this trail you'll also see remnants of history. You'll be walking within the old ruins of the Old Stone Dam that was built in 1881, and ruined by a flood in 1904.
There are interpretive signs along the way that will tell you of the preserve's history, and the historic dam site.
This hike is home to much wildlife. Don't be surprised if you run into deer, beavers, bears in the distance, and plenty of birds singing their songs.
Walking within the skirts of a canyon is beautiful, as the red rocks surround you and create an oasis of nature. Sit down by the pond and take in all the colors, sounds, and smells.
