Welcome to the Rio Grande Gorge Trail!
This hike is actually multiple trails tied together and is located in the Wild Rivers Recreation Area in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument near Taos. This trail can be accessed near Questa via NM-522.
Once you find the Wild Rivers Recreation Area, you can park at Big Arsenic Springs Campground. From here, you'll find the trailhead to Big Arsenic Trail.
Upon this 7-mile out and back hike, you'll find many educational signs about the Rio Grande and Red River.
This lofty hike takes you through a few mini trails, and you can choose how far you'd like to go.
The terrain isn't too rough and the elevation doesn't change a lot, so this trail is marked as "easy." It's perfect for the whole family.
Along the way, you'll find views of the Rio Grande like never before, and you'll feel like you're on top of the world.
