Sure, Lakota Wolf Preserve is no secret. If you've never heard of it, you may just live under a rock, or in a wolf den. However, not everyone has, and that's a shame. And if you've heard about it but not visited yet, you're missing out. Let's learn a little more about this incredible spot and see why it's definitely worth a visit. Here's what you need to know:
This non-profit wildlife sanctuary is the largest of its kind in the northeastern United States.
The sanctuary is located in Columbia, New Jersey and offers educational tours.
Tours are offered at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day except Monday.
On these tours, you'll learn about "the social structure of wolf packs, their eating habits, their interaction with man, and many other interesting facts."
Tours last 60-75 minutes and cost $15 for adults and $7 for children up to age 11 - cash or check only. Appointments are required for weekday tours but not weekend tours.
While photography is permitted, special photography tours are also offered.
Sessions cost $300 for a 2-hour private tour. Your guide will help you get the best photos possible.
Photo season typically runs from September - April when the wolves have their winter coats.
While wolves are a highlight of the preserve, it also cares for foxes and bobcats.
One fun way to support Lakota Wolf Preserve is by purchasing the special Tamron (white) or Sierra (red) wines at Brook Hollow Winery.
