A lot of people love the idea of hiking but have no idea where to start. If you would like to start getting out to enjoy nature more but feel overwhelmed at the idea of tackling hard hikes at the Water Gap or in the Skylands, why not start a little smaller? Perrineville Lake Park is in Monmouth County, and it offers easy trails that show off beautiful views.
Perrineville Lake Park is a patch of beautifully preserved forest and wetlands in Monmouth County, and it's worth a visit if you want to take a relaxing stroll through nature.
While there are multiple trails that offer biking, hiking, and other usage, the prettiest trail is the short 1.5 mile loop that takes hikers down to the park's namesake lake.
The trail starts off pretty gradually, and it follows an old farm road down to the beautiful Perrineville Lake.
The large fields offer wide open views of the landscape and sky. It's a picture-perfect scene in any season!
If you hike here frequently, it's fun to watch how the fields, grasses, wildflowers, and trees change with the seasons. This is a favorite destination for photographers in the fall.
The loop trail is just 1.5 miles long, and about halfway through, you'll find yourself on the shores of the large lake.
You might see people fishing or boating in the lake, but it's most likely that you'll have this quiet spot to yourself.
Come spend some time on the shores of Monmouth County's most underrated lake and enjoy the coastal air, sunshine, and warm breeze.
