One of the best ways to spend a peaceful day hiking is to explore one of the quiet, remote lakes in New Jersey. The Pine Barrens are full of quarries and ponds that are truly remote, but in case you don't have a 4x4 vehicle and sand-trail navigation skills, we're here to tell you about the peaceful ponds of Farny State Park, one of the best New Jersey lakes.
Farny State Park features a trail to suit any hiker's abilities or desires, and every path you take brings you to better and better views.
Whether you want to test your stamina on the 11.5-mile Splitrock Reservoir trail or 4.6-mile Indian Cliff trails for sky-high views or take an easier stroll around the ponds, you'll find a journey you love.
The park surrounds Splitrock Reservoir, which is a quiet, remote lake in New Jersey. If you want to find an even more secluded lake, there's another small unnamed pond near Camp Winnebago, on the Cobb Hill side of the reservoir.
Farny State Park is a haven for birdwatchers, so hike quietly and you might spot some of the reservoir's residents. The endangered Red Shouldered Hawk nests here, and you may even spot the rare Barred Owl.
Pack a picnic and go explore one of the more remote lakes in New Jersey at Farny State Park, a hidden gem that we're sure you'll love.
