If you love hiking and scenic waterfront views, this South Jersey state park is calling your name! Come visit Rancocas State Park and you'll find yourself wanting to make this a regular weekend excursion.
Rancocas State Park is located in the heart of Burlington County along the namesake Rancocas Creek.
Despite being close to some of South Jersey's best communities, this park is often completely empty, and it's so easy to find some peaceful, quiet space if you're looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty.
There are two sides to the park, and multiple places to park and head out on the trailheads.
14 "official" trails cover 13 miles, but there are plenty of side trails and detours to make sure you get good and lost in the woods. There are two sides to the park - the forest and meadow trails near the Rancocas Nature Center, and the woodsy uplands between the North and South Branches of the Rancocas Creek.
The trails by the Nature Center are more popular than the other side, and they're also easier for children and those with mobility issues due to the maintenance they undergo.
The "other side" of the park is a bit more rugged. It's great for hikers, mountain bikers, or anyone who wants a relaxing walk in the woods.
No matter which side you decide to explore, you'll enjoy peace and quiet just a short distance from any trailhead.
Open year-round, you’ll want to visit this delightful route multiple times to see what each season has to offer.
Rancocas State Park is truly one of South Jersey's best hiking destinations, and somehow, it's still quite a hidden gem.
Find out more on the Rancocas State Park website, and be sure to bring a map with you (either printed or saved to your phone), as it's pretty easy to get a little lost out here in this winding network of woodsy trails.
