One of the many advantages to living in the Northeast is that our residents get to experience fall exactly like it should be, full of color and crunchy leaves everywhere. Recently the travel website Condé Nast Traveler listed the best places on the East Coast and West Coast where you can experience our country's best fall colors. It's no surprise at all that some of our favorite areas of New Jersey made their list. Think you know where the best spot is to enjoy these colors? Let's see if you're right!
With some of our country's best foliage falling in the upper right hand corner of America, it's no surprise that New Jersey made this list.
Not only did Condé Nast Traveler divide their list up between our two coasts, they also took things one step further by creating spectacular sub-categories. The travel website goes on to name the best places that have the most incredible views, which area has the most intense colors, where you can find the best variety of colors, longest foliage seasons and lists off which states have the least crowded leaf peeping locations.
New Jersey has the distinction of being the location that has the latest start to the foliage season.
While the pictures in this post prove that you can find gorgeous fall foliage all over New Jersey, the travel website goes on to point out that our state has quite a few beautiful locations that won't start changing colors until later in the season.
So, where should you go to enjoy this long-lasting season?
Condé Nast Traveler suggests thinking outside the box and heading toward the coast, where our foliage won't start showing until later in the season. With colors popping through all the way until early November, you still have plenty of time to enjoy the foliage in New Jersey.
Stay close to the coast and head south to experience some of the most breathtaking foliage you can find in New Jersey!
While many out-of-owners and visitors from all over like to enjoy our beach locations like Wildwood and Cape May during the summer months, it's the off season that should be on your bucket list. With less crowds and cooler temperatures, you can enjoy these stunning colors from late October all the way through until early November!

Another specific location that's suggested? Belleplain State Forest in Woodbine. Being right close to the bay gives this gorgeous forest a much longer-lasting leaf season and offers a stunning variety of colors amongst the trees.
