With the White Mountains in our backyard, there's certainly no shortage of ways to get outside and enjoy the nature of New Hampshire. But, if we're being completely honest, we're not always looking to go on a full-blown hike. Some days you just want to meander down a path and take things as they come. Wearing sensible shoes! This beautiful garden offers a relaxing way to get outside without having to lace up some serious hiking boots.
Tarbin Gardens in Franklin offers a beautiful respite from the every day.
The 33-acre property has been owned by the same English family since 1973. It was opened up for visitors in 2003 and has been a secret garden retreat ever since.
The walkway through the property leads to a number of different gardens and each features a mix of both native and exotic plants and flowers. This is a great place to visit if you love the nature of New Hampshire, but also want to feel like you've gone away for a day.
The beautiful Koi pond reminds us of Japanese gardens we've seen, but there are also English gardens and even a small bog.
Follow the stone path to see everything the property has to offer, but be sure to keep an eye out for their animals! They've got everything from goats to Scottish Highland cattle.
You'll love the pools, butterflies and animals but the real secret is the English cream tea! Enjoy the perfect cup of tea with a treat and then continue your journey through the path.
Once you've finished your exploration stop by the gift shop and take home one of their unique English gifts to commemorate the fun trip to a place that some of your friends haven't seen yet.
Tarbin Gardens is open every day except Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and tea is served from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The season runs from May through the end of September, so be sure to get their quickly if you'd like to see it in 2019.
