There can be times when it seems that nothing is hidden anymore. Every perfect trail, every under-the-radar restaurant, and every slice of paradise eventually catches on. Some folks might disagree, but we believe this is a good thing. It means local businesses are thriving and more people are experiencing the wonders of the outdoors. Today we're taking you to a waterfall that's lesser-known and by sharing it we hope it allows more people to appreciate just how wonderful New Hampshire is!
The Walter/Newton Natural Area in Plymouth offers tons of outdoor fun without needing to tackle the kind of trail that will have you sweating and tired by the end.
The area features one of New Hampshire cutest and least-visited waterfalls. Rainbow Falls can be accessed using a few different trails within the natural area which means you can visit multiple times for a different experience each time.
The Walter/Newton Natural Area Trail is about 1.6-miles through the woods, meandering through forest and wetlands.
There's a small brook running through it which helps keeps kids interested. This is a great route for little (and ambitious!) legs as it has very little elevation gain.
Be aware of some of the exposed roots, but other than that, this is a simple trail to follow.
And we love the little footbridge that's great for photos!
It's best to time your visit to the falls with recent rain as this makes for more water flow.
