New Hampshire is full of amazing hikes, but if you're not able to hit the trails there are still plenty of natural wonders that don't require you to walk far at all. Whether you're wheel-chair bound, bringing small kids, or just looking for a more laid-back day these accessible natural wonders in New Hampshire will leave you in awe.
1. The Summit Of Mount Washington
You can reach the tallest peak in the Northeast without having to hike at all. Driving or taking the train to the summit of Mount Washington will allow you to enjoy the views that keep mountaineers coming back for more, without having to do any of the work. No matter how you get to the summit, the feeling of being on top of the world is the same!
2. Rocky Gorge, Albany
Rocky Gorge natural area offers smooth paths and a bridge that allows people to explore the river and waterfalls with just a short walk from the parking lot. This spot is accessible and gorgeous year round!
3. Beaver Brook Falls, Colebrook
Normally seeing New Hampshire's best waterfalls involves some hiking, but at Beaver Brook Falls you can see the cascades from the comfort of your car. This is one wonder you won't want to miss!
4. The Seacoast, Odiorne Point State Park, Rye
Odiorne Point State Park lets you enjoy New Hampshire's beautiful rocky seacoast, with views across the Atlantic and over Portsmouth Harbor. You can walk all around if you want, but there is also plenty to see with a casual stroll. Keep an eye out for the seals!
5. White Mountain National Forest
The White Mountain National Forest is New Hampshire's crown jewell, and luckily for us the Kancamangus Highwasy traverses it, meaning that any New Hampshire resident can enjoy stunning views of the national forest. The hikes along the Kanc are great, but you can also enjoy plenty just by pulling into the overlooks and enjoying the view.
6. Lake Winnipesaukee, Moultonborough
The view of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains from Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough is one of the most stunning natural sites in New Hampshire. It's well worth the drive and the price of admission to see this view.
7. Portsmouth Harbor, New Castle
The natural wonder of Portsmouth Harbor, with its inlets and oodles of wildlife will take your breath away. The man-made features, like the Portsmouth Harbor lighthouse, just add to the view. Head to New Castle to take in spectacular views of the harbor.
8. Lower Falls, Albany
One of the most popular sites on the Kancamangus, Lower Falls is accessible right from the parking lot so that anyone can see the falls (and the brave tourists swimming near them!)
Happy exploring!
