New Hampshire is full of wonderful hiking. Sometimes, it may be a bit overwhelming to know which trails you should tackle first. That's why we've put together this list of the 11 best trails in New Hampshire. So pack a lunch, lace up your hiking boots, and head out to experience these amazing hikes!
1. Mount Major Trail, Alton Bay
The Mount Major Trail is a 3.8 mile look that will give you stunning views over Lake Winnipesaukee and on to the White Mountains in the distance. The trail is heavily traveled and moderate, so most hikers should be able to manage. The views are great motivation!
2. Tuckerman Ravine Trail, Gorham
If you're putting together a New Hampshire hiking bucket list, you have to include the tallest mountain in the state. The Tuckerman Ravine Trail is a popular 7.1 mile loop complete with a waterfall. The trail is difficult, however, so make sure you're up for it.
3. Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliff Trail, Bartlett
This 4.3 mile moderate trail will take you to New Hampshire's tallest single-drop waterfall. That's something worth hiking for! The views from Frankenstein Cliff are equally beautiful.
4. Lake Massabesic Trail, Auburn
If you're looking for an easy stroll, the Lake Massabecic Trail is perfect. This wide and flat trail is an easy 4 mile walk that is perfect for kids, or for walking your dog.
5. Piper Hammond Loop Trail, North Conway
This hard 8.2 mile trail is not for beginner hikers, but if you're an experienced hiker looking for a new challenge, this is certainly worth doing. The trail boasts beautiful views over the White Mountains, as well as a waterfall.
6. Purgatory Falls Trail, Lyndeborough
This easy trail in the Monadnock Valley is beautiful, and winds up with a waterfall. The trail is rated easy, so anyone should be able to manage it. This trail is also a gem because it is open year-round.
7. The Flume Trail, Franconia
This is one of the most well-known trials in New Hampshire, but it's still worth a visit! The boardwalk allows you to get close the the river and falls for an up close and personal experience.
8. The Lonesome Lake Trail, Lincoln
Lonesome Lake just sounds like somewhere you want to explore, and this trail will not disappoint. The moderate 3.1 mile trail takes you out to and around the lake for an unforgettable hike.
9. Mount Washington-Ammonoosuc Trail, Twin Mountain
This difficult trail for experienced hikers is a 8.4 mile loop. It follows the Ammonoosuc River for a delightful hike. However, it is steep, so make sure that your hiking skills are up to the challenge.
10. Rattlesnake Trail, Center Sandwich
Don't let the name deter you - there are no Rattlesnakes to be found on this trail. What there are, however, are beautiful views. The summit will allow you to look out over Squam Lake, and at just 1.7 miles return the easy trail is accessible for nearly anyone.
11.Mine Falls Park, Nashua
You don't have to go far from the city to get a taste of nature in Nashua. Mine Falls Park features a river and lake, and is a great spot to sight some wildlife without traveling too far.
