We all know that New Hampshire's ocean coast is smaller than many of the surrounding states. But that doesn't mean we don't have more than enough opportunities to visit the beach! You can fight the crowds at the coast or you can head inland to visit one of the many lakes that dot the landscape. This one, in a fun state park, is a sight to see and the waters are so clear.
Mt. Sunapee State Park in Newbury offers just about everything you might want to do outdoors in New Hampshire.
From summer to fall, winter to spring this park is entertaining people who love skiing, hiking, boating, swimming and just enjoying the outdoors. But we might love the 6.5-mile lake the best.
Lake Sunapee is considered one of the clearest in the state. And just one look at the water and you'll agree.
In many places you can see right down to the bottom. And that means lake activities are even more fun.
The beach offers one of the sandiest shorelines in the state and there's plenty of room to spread out. Keep in mind that things here do get busy in the summer, but capacity is kept to a minimum to ensure safety and distance.
If you don't get a space at the beach, remember that you can still explore the shores.
There are lots of secret little areas where you can enjoy the peace and quiet.
And even have a secret conversation or two!
While many people head here in the summer, we love visiting the beach in the fall. The water is clear and lovely and the fall foliage makes things extra-special.
Lake Sunapee is a lovely day trip. And once you've had your fill of the water, enjoy the trails and other activities located right in Mt. Sunapee State Park.
Mt. Sunapee State Park is open year-round from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for all types of activities including boating and skiing. Entry is $5 for adults and $2 for kids 6 to 11.
