The summer is a time for enjoying the outdoors and trying new things. There are tons to choose from in New Hampshire, but we love the activities that are off-the-beaten-path. Some of these things might even exist right under our noses. If you love cooling off with a dip in the water this time of year, consider trading in your water park tickets for something even more fun. This natural water park is just the thing!
Cascade Park, located in North Woodstock isn't all that out of the way, but if you're not aware it exists you might be surprised at just how fantastic it is to visit.
The park includes a series of rapids that flow over perfectly smooth rock, created over millions of years from the constant flow of water.
The result is the perfect natural water slide! On a busy summer day it's not uncommon to find this place packed.
While much of the Pemigewasset River is rough, this section is almost just a stream.
The water is clear and shallow making it great for kids. But be cautious as things here are very slippery!
If you have your own tubes, bring them along. If not, it's easy enough to rent them in town.
But even without a tube, this place is a blast! Sit down, push off and see how many rocks you can slide across.
This park is public and there are no lifeguards, so always keep an eye out for children if you choose to visit with them.
Other than that, just plan on having fun! We especially love how close to the downtown area Cascade Park is. That makes it easy to spend the afternoon and then get ice cream or another treat for the trip back home.
Cascade Park can be reached by parking in town and walking to the North Woodstock Visitor's Center where you'll find the entrance area. There isn't a ton of official information about this fun spot, but you'll certainly be able to find it with a visit to the town.
We can't get enough of this state when the weather is warm. There's so much to do and see, you can easily plan a new activity for each and every weekend. We especially love this underrated New Hampshire waterfall pool that that just might be your new favorite summer destination!
