If there's a more adorable animal than a goat, we'd like to see it! You might argue that an alpaca is cute and we'd be forced to agree. But even the fluffiest, happiest alpaca isn't going to help create cheese and that's our second favorite thing! If you also have a special place in your heart reserved for goats (and one for homemade cheese!) we've got your next day trip all lined up for you. You'll be heading to one of the most lovely farms in the state.
Hickory Nut Farm in Lee is one of the most adorable farms we've ever seen. Owned by former architects, Donne-Lee Woods and Phil Tambling, this little farm is a labor of love.
Founded in 2000, the farm is operated with love by three generations of the family.
They started with two donkeys, two sheep, 20 chickens and one horse. Soon kids were added. Soon milking goats were added and the rest, as they say, is history!
Today the farm produces a number of different cheeses. And they even have a cheese cave that's kept cozy all year-long.
Each cheese is made right here at the farm and variations in recipe and other uncontrollable factors make every single bath unique. People love the Cuppa Cheeses, which are. You can pick them up at the Stall Store on the farm or at a number of local farmer's markets. They even have an online store.
They might be most famous for their Yo-Goat-Gurt! This natural Greek yogurt has no added sugars or preservatives and it's absolutely delicious.
For holidays and other special occasions they offer baskets which make perfect gifts.
While we love the cheese and dairy products, it's also fun to visit the farm. They offer visits at different times throughout the year and you can learn about them on their website listed below.
Whether it's adorable goats or scrumptious cheese you're after, you'll leave Hickory Nut Farm feeling happy.
Hickory Nut Farm is open for visits at different times throughout the year. It's especially fun to help them feed the goats. You'll just need to get in touch with them in advance to arrange a time. If farm life is the life for you, you're in the right place! You'll never forget a visit to The Friendly Farm, a one-of-a-kind farm filled with baby chicks in New Hampshire.
