Temps are chillier, lights are beginning to go up all around the state and things like peppermint hot chocolate are on order at local coffee shops. All signs point to Christmas! And, with Christmas, comes all the activities that make this season to festive. From watching trees in town centers light up before our eyes to holiday shopping, the events leading up to the big day are a big part of the season. If you're looking for something unique to do with the family this year, check out this scavenger hunt that relies on 26 elves to help kids earn victory!
Santa's Village in Jefferson has been filling families with Christmas spirit year round since the early 1950s.
While the park has evolved over time, it's remained the best place to experience Christmastime.
The majority of the 23 rides at the park have a Christmas theme and are named things like "Rudy's Rapid Transit Coaster" and "The Great Humbug Adventure".
The park also has three theatres for live shows and a movie.
And no visit to Santa's Village would be complete without a visit to Visitors can visit Santa's home. Kids can visit with him, while sitting in his rocking chair and asking him questions about his life outside the north pole.
While a visit to the park is fun, one of the greatest ways to get into the holiday spirit is by taking part in the Elf University Elfabet Game.
To take part, head to the North Bowl and just next door you'll find Elf University.
Get yourself (or your little one!) an Elfabet Card containing each of the Elfabet letters.
Next, you'll go on a quest throughout the park to find each of the 26 elves.
Each elf holds a gift.
Simply slide the Elfabet card into the mail slot and you'll receive a stamp indicating that you've found that elf!
Once the card is full (or mostly full, don't get too stressed!) head back to Elf University to claim a prize.
While you can take part in this fun scavenger hunt all year long, it's extra special in the winter when the ground is covered with snow and the Christmas spirit is extra big!
