To take in the beauty of Kezar Lake you’ll want to head straight to Wadleigh State Park in Sutton.
This lovely park often gets overlooked in favor of some of New Hampshire’s larger ones, but it’s no less fun. Plus, it offers access to one of the clearest lakes you’ll find in New England.
And, visitors can be sure that this lake is clean as can be thanks to the Kezar Lake Protective Association. The group was formed in the 1970s to clean and protect the lake after pollution and algae blooms began plaguing it in the 1930s.
If you can manage to rent a cabin or camp on the banks of the lake you’ll be able to wake up early and take in the incredible sunrise. The rising mist is the type of thing you just can’t replicate on other bodies of water.
We also love that the park itself offers so many ways to enjoy the day. Check out the water in the morning, then head to a picnic area for a fun lunch right on the water.
We all know about the popularity of places like Lake Winnipesaukee and Echo Lake. Because so many people prioritize those spots, little lakes like Kezar often get overlooked.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. I admit I'm not a big swimmer, but I do love being near water! Fortunately, New Hampshire is graced with many wonderful water features like lakes, ponds, rivers, brooks, and waterfalls. Chances are you don't have to go far to visit one of these natural areas of beauty. Once summer arrives and the temps heat up, getting to the nearest water source for some natural cooling is a must. One New Hampshire river, the Saco River, has been a source of recreation for centuries and it will definitely keep you cool.

New Hampshire's Saco River begins at the tiny Saco Lake in Crawford Notch. This small body of water doesn't look like it could feed such a long river.
The river winds its way downhill from the White Mountains in one of the most scenic areas of the state. Even if you don't take a dip, simply enjoying the views is pleasant.
The river remains a popular site for recreation, attracting thousands of people each summer to its busiest sections. But with a little exploring, you can find quieter, out-of-the-way spots to enjoy.
As with all large waterways, the Saco River can also be dangerous and should be respected. It is prone to flooding and several major flooding events have occurred in recent years.
