Ahern State Park in Laconia often gets overshadowed by some of the other fun things to do nearby. But if you're willing to do some exploring, you'll find that this special state park is a worthy destination in its own right.

While we love getting lost along the wooded trails, the special attraction here is the lake!

The park lies on 3,500 feet of shoreline along Lake Winnisquam making this a fabulous day trip for those who love water sports.

The park allows non-motorized boats which means your time on the lake will be relaxing without waves and wakes.

Plus, the shoreline offers plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the view. Visiting in the weeks just after summer when the weather is warm and the leaves are changing means a whole different vibe. One we think you'll love and that can only be found here in New England.

And after you've soaked up the fun in the summer and fall, head back during the winter to enjoy a whole new landscape. We're lucky to be in a place where life just gets more beautiful throughout the year.
