1. Van Sickle Rim Trail Connector, Stateline
A popular hiking trail in Van Sickle Bi-State Park, the Rim Trail Connector is notable for its fantastic views of Lake Tahoe in the distance. Accessible year-round, the trail becomes even more extraordinary in winter when snow covers the lake's surrounding mountains. The 6.3-mile trail is rated as moderate for its elevation gain, but the effort is so worth it to get a glimpse of this view.
2. Ice Box Canyon Trail, Las Vegas
Red Rock Canyon is absolutely dreamy during wintertime and a great hike to tackle within the park is the one and only Ice Box Canyon Trail. The 2.3-mile out-and-back trail leads you directly into the coldest part of the canyon, complete with a big waterfall at the end. Additionally, being at under 2.5 miles, it is one of the best kid-friendly hikes in Nevada.
3. Mary Jane Falls Trail, Mount Charleston
The Mary Jane Falls Trail is one of the most spectacular trails that Mt. Charleston has to offer. It's a moderate uphill hike, but you'll be glad you made the trek when you spot the waterfall at the end. It's often frozen over and surrounded by tons of snowy scenery during the winter season.
4. Mount Rose Trail, Incline Village
The Mount Rose Trail is definitely not for the casual hiker but it certainly belongs on your bucket list. As one of the tallest peaks in the Tahoe Basin, you'll be treated to tremendous views of mountains and even Lake Tahoe. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time if you plan on accomplishing the entire 10.7-mile loop trail.
5. Spooner Lake Trail, Glenbrook
For a relaxing jaunt around a gorgeous lake, the Spooner Lake Trail is simply perfect. It's rated as easy and is only 2.5-miles long, making it perfect for families with young ones or those looking for an easygoing adventure. You'll be totally at peace as you take in the lake's snow-covered landscape.
6. Lehman Creek Trail, Baker
Great Basin National Park is absolutely breathtaking during winter, as you'll see when you take on the Lehman Creek Trail. The lesser-known 8.2-mile trail follows a stream before leading you into an open meadow with views of Wheeler Peak and is one of the most scenic hikes in Nevada. Don't forget your camera!
7. Hunter Creek Trail, Reno
The Hunter Creek Trail near Reno is one of the most popular treks in the area during the summertime, so it's nice to explore it in winter when the trail is quieter and less packed. The view of the snowy foothills and a waterfall at the end solidify this as a must-do winter hiking trail. Just remember that the trail can get slick this time of year, so hiking poles and sturdy boots are highly recommended.
