Summer is almost here and with it come thoughts of sun and water fun. In addition to the wide variety of swimming pools at nearly every hotel and casino in larger cities like Las Vegas and Reno—as well as the very popular swimming spots all around Lake Tahoe and Lake Mead—here are six other lesser-known swimming spots in Nevada that will truly make your summer awesome. Grab the family, pack a picnic, load the camera, and take off for some summer memory-making.
1. McGill Swimming Pool, Ely
This incredible natural, spring-fed pool near Ely combines the sun and fun of the beach and a traditional swimming pool. From the sandy shore of a beach to water slides to diving boards to guppy hunting in the shallows to swimming lessons, your summer would be incomplete without spending some time at this wonderful swimming spot.

2. Chimney Beach, Lake Tahoe
Chimney Beach is a small sandy beach with amazing views of Lake Tahoe and the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is so named due to the stone chimney that sits right on the sand and is one of the most beautiful yet lesser known and underrated of Lake Tahoe's numerous beaches and swimming areas.

3. Big Bend of the Colorado River, Laughlin
Located at the southernmost tip of Nevada on the Colorado River is Big Bend - a delightful recreation area for everyone who loves all things water. Located just downstream from Davis Dam, this area of the Colorado River is clear and cool - even when temperatures exceed the century mark.

4. Goldstrike Canyon Hot Springs, Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Although you need to hike for a bit to reach the hot springs, the trek is well worth it. Several pools and waterfalls ranging from 70 to 144 degrees take relaxation to a whole new level, and many of these pools are deep enough for swimming. This is one place you don't want to miss this summer.

5. Nevada Beach, Lake Tahoe
This lesser known swimming spot at Lake Tahoe with a half-mile of shoreline is actually en route to the very popular Zephyr Cove. The adjacent campground and woods, as well as the spectacular mountain vistas, make this truly a one-of-a-kind summer swimming spot you won't soon forget.

6. Arizona Hot Springs, Boulder City
Located in a slot canyon near Hoover Dam in Lake Mead, these hot springs consist of three pools at various levels in which 111-degree, highly mineralized water is circulated. The trek to the hot springs goes through a beautiful volcanic canyon with stunning views. These hot springs definitely belong on your summer bucket list.
