Say the word "playground" and what comes to mind? For me, it brings back memories of being a child and playing all summer with friends, having swinging contest, racing down slides and poles, and getting blisters on the monkey bars. Today, the playground is still as popular as it was back in the day, and Nevada has its share of amazing playgrounds you will want to visit with—or without—the kids. Take a look at the 13 best, amazing playgrounds across the Silver State.

1. Rainbow Ridge Park, 1355 Rainbow Ridge Dr., Reno

This clean, hidden, safety-first neighborhood park has two large play areas in addition to the normal basketball hoops, grassy areas, picnic area, walking trails, and water features to stay cool during the hot Nevada summers.

2. Children's Park at Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. So., Las Vegas

Perfect for a hot Las Vegas day, this park has several playground items like swings and slides; however, it also has a tree house, a hedge maze, a train ride, and a refreshing splash pad.

3. Treehouse Park, 707 Fremont St., Las Vegas

Located in Downtown Container Park, Treehouse Park has at its center a treehouse with a large slide (age and height restrictions apply) that is fun for everyone. Additionally, this super fun park has several other play areas featuring giant Legos and soft blocks to build with as well as more traditional playground equipment.

4. Mission Hills Park, 551 College Dr., Henderson

This very large park and playground in the Las Vegas Valley is chock full of swings, jungle gyms, slides, and ladders for kids (and adults) of all ages. However, its biggest draw is the enormous foam padded splash pad with several water features to keep cool during the sweltering summer months.

5. Village Center Park, 18705 Village Center Dr., Reno

This popular neighborhood park boasts two play structures (toddler and big-kid), a climbing rock, huge sports field, and splash pad for the heat of summer. In fact, this playground provides everything necessary to reminisce about summers as a kid and to make new memories with your own children.

6. Big Orv's Playground, 1501 College Ave., Elko

This older, all-wood playground has been recently renovated with Trex to keep it cool and remove any possible splinters. It has multiple levels and oodles of swings, slides, monkey bars, and other traditional playground fare.

This little gem of a playground has swings, slides, monkey bars, and the usual equipment. However, it's best apparatus is the three story structure with a huge super fast red slide!

10. Center Creek Park, 1595 Wilbur May Pkwy, Reno

Despite its relatively small size, this playground has more than its share of playground favorites. From two swing/slide/ladder areas (one for the little tots, the other for older kids), a boulder to rock climb on, jungle gyms, monkey bars, and other miscellaneous playground equipment, both kids and adult can play the day away.

11. Paseos Park, 12122 Desert Moon, Las Vegas

This large, clean, shady playground is a perfect way to let the kids burn off their energy, and when they get too hot, the enormous splash pad is perfect for cooling off.

12. Nevada Trails Park, 7075 Mardon Ave., Las Vegas

In addition to the grassy area, trail around the park, tennis courts, covered picnic/party area, and basketball hoops, this wonderful park has two kids' playgrounds. The first is for the smaller tots with smaller slides, ladders, and swings. The second area has higher ladders, slides, swings, poles to slide down, monkey bars, and, well, everything you remember a great playground to have. Bring the kiddos and you can all play the day away!

13. Rainbow Family Park, 7151 W. Oakey Dr., Las Vegas

This fun park has plenty of playground equipment for all ages. From swings to slides to ladders to bars and more, kids (and adults) can play all day before cooling down at the dolphin-themed water area. One fun extra Rainbow Family Park has is an old-fashioned sandbox!
