Nebraska's state parks are fabulous in the summer, but not as many people think to visit in the winter. There are fun activities happening right now in our state parks, and one in particular has been turned into a true winter wonderland.
Ponca State Park is located in the northeastern corner of the state. This beloved destination is one of Nebraska's favorite state parks due to its natural beauty and the abundance of activities there.
Stop by anytime in the winter for a uniquely lovely experience. This part of the state is totally magical under a fresh blanket of snow.
The park really comes to life in December when Ponca State Park hosts Christmas in the Woods, a collection of fun winter activities for the whole family.
The celebration of the season is taking place the first four Saturdays in December: the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Lighted hayrack rides, free cookies and apple cider, educational activities, holiday crafts...
...sledding, cross-country skiing, and a snowman building contest (snow permitting) are among the delightful activities you can expect at Christmas in the Woods.
Visit the park on December 29, 2018 for the 7th annual Winterfest - it's similar to Christmas in the Woods, but all concentrated into one action-packed day.
This year's Winterfest will feature the National Championship Fruitcake Fling, lighted hayrack rides, refreshments, crafts, and a family 3K Yule Log Quest.
Winter activities in Nebraska's state parks are a terrific way to get out of the house and be active even when the weather isn't ideal.
