The historical buildings and museums may be the most popular attractions here, but exploring the outdoors is just as great a reason to make Fort Robinson a destination.
One of the most popular ways to see the sights at Fort Robinson is on a horseback trail ride. There's also a fun (and bumpy) stagecoach ride that takes you around the grounds.
But one of the lesser-known tours is the open-air Jeep tour that takes you over the rugged terrain of the park and to some lovely sights.
If you aren't keen on climbing onto a horse but still want to see this beautiful countryside, the Jeep tour is definitely the way to go. You'll see the rugged buttes and travel on paths that aren't accessible to other park visitors.
The ride is bumpy and rugged, but you may not even notice as you're riding through the pines. The driver will take you all the way to the top of the buttes, where you can get out and take pictures at one of the most spectacular vantage points in the state.
Along the way, you'll likely see some of the plentiful wildlife that calls Fort Robinson home. Bison and longhorn herds, elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and mountain goats can all be found in and around the park. This Jeep ride is as close to a safari as you'll get in Nebraska!
The Jeep tour shows you the park in a totally unique way. You can just relax and watch the scenery without worrying about driving a car or navigating on a horse (although those are also terrific ways to see Fort Robinson Park).
