The Old School Farm and Restaurant is located a mere ten minutes outside of the city, but has become known as a place with a heart and a plan. The non-profit organization looks to provide sustainable, solid work for those with learning disabilities, managing to infuse Nashville with a well-honed establishment rife with heart.
You'll want to book a table ahead of time if you're looking to enjoy a meal at The Old School. It's become quite a popular farm-to-table location, tucked back in the hills with a menu that transcends the normative Nashville meat-and-three fare.
The restaurant has also been used as a wedding and event venue, with its classic design and beautiful architecture serving as a minimalist backdrop for the sweet and simple bride.
The restaurant is located in an old school (yep, you guessed it!) built in 1937 that eventually fell into an extreme state of disrepair. It has been lovingly and intentionally renovated, and there are framed photographs throughout the hallways that show the condition of the school before, in a stark juxtaposition to where it is today.
Biscuits, anyone? Indulging in a buttery bite of bread makes for a good evening, but it's the vibrant and fresh veggies and main course options that truly bring The Old School to another level. Everything is grown on-site, after all!
We'd recommend brunch over and over again. If you can get your best friends out of the city on a Saturday morning, it will be well worth it.
This plate of morning pastries is making us so hungry...are your sugar cravings through the roof right now?!
Communal dining makes for a truly intentional experience, infused with southern hospitality and a true love of food. If you have time, we'd recommend walking around the farm or speaking with one of the men and women on staff for an overview of the beautiful place. There's nothing more stunning than a group of folks with a beautiful mission, and here? It starts with the heart.
