Montana summers are entirely too short. Each year, it seems like we go from celebrating the 4th of July to raking up leaves in a matter of hours.
That being said, we do sometimes get some scorching summer days here in the Treasure State, and keeping little ones cool in the heat is easy if you live in Missoula. Westside Park has a fantastic splash pad.
Westside Park is a city park that's located at 1150 Sherwood Street in Missoula.
The city of Missoula puts a lot of effort into the local parks, and it shows.
Westside Park's history is quite well-known. There's even a documentary about it.
The film, called Project Westside Park, tells the story of how local children and community partners came together to design a unique play space that will meet the evolving needs of the school and the neighborhood.
The playground at the park is massive, but on a warm summer day, nothing compares to the splash pad.
The splash pad opens up after Memorial Day, making Westside Park an extremely popular summer destination for locals.
We're not entirely sure what makes splash pads so enticing to children, but the vast majority of them can't seem to resist them.
As an added bonus, your kids will cool off after playing in the heat.
