Missouri's brimming with attractions that make deciding where to explore next pretty darn difficult. Outdoor lovers, for example, have 92 state parks from which to choose when it's time to decide where our next adventure will take place. When you're craving some time by the water, you won't find a better spot than Wakonda State Park in Missouri.
Escape the noise of everyday life at Wakonda State Park in La Grange, a sprawling natural oasis that spans more than 1,000 acres.
If you're a fan of spending time on or near the water, you'll quickly discover Wakonda State Park, with its six lakes, is akin to paradise.
During the summer months, head to Wakonda Lake, which boasts a massive 20,000-square foot sand beach. It is, in fact, Missouri State Parks' largest natural sand beach.
The beach also features showers and restrooms, so you can change before doing a bit more exploring.
Hiking along one, or more, of the park's eight trails is the best way to explore. If you're craving some alone time, set off on the Jasper Lake Trail.
Clocking in at just under two miles, the trail is considered easy. However, it doesn't tend to get busy, so it's perfect if you're craving a bit of solitude.
Wakonda's six lakes aren't the only thing that make it unique. It's also home to a sand prairie.
You'll find a full menu of fun - biking, boating, and picnicking - awaiting at Wakonda State Park.
If a day simply isn't enough time to soak up all the park has to offer, turn your daytrip into a camping adventure.
