A day – or even an hour or two – outdoors is often time well spent. After all, getting outside allows us to breathe in the fresh air, soak up a bit of sun, and recharge our energy. It also allows us to connect with nature. When you stroll, hike, or bike at Katy Trail State Park in Missouri, you’ll meander under a beautiful tunnel of trees and be treated to gorgeous scenery, no matter what time of the year you visit.
Katy Trail State Park isn’t your typical state park. After all, it spans 240 miles along a former railroad line, meandering from Clinton to Machens and featuring 26 trailheads.
Geared toward bikers and walkers, the park also allows segways, electric golf carts, and electric-powered motor devices for those with a physical disability.
No matter how you travel through Katy Trail State Park, you’ll be treated to an abundance of beautiful scenery as you follow the Missouri River. The park even features several restored train depots.
Arguably one of the prettiest parts of the trail is the tunnel of trees that towers over the path, providing much-needed shade during Missouri’s warmest months.
The state park is open from sunrise to sunset daily, which gives you plenty of time to explore. Consider visiting in each season, so you can admire the trees when they’re a vibrant green…
Drenched in the colors of fall and…
Even in the middle of winter as their bare branches glisten with snow and icicles.
