An MO winter can be quite unpredictable. In one week, we Missourians can expect sunny, warm days followed by an unpredictable snowstorm. Winter in MO seems to arrive rather quickly after Christmas. 1. Winter in Missouri can be absolutely beautiful, especially after a light snowfall. Despite all the struggles winter brings, try to take time to enjoy it.
2. One of the most dangerous aspects of a Missouri winter is freezing rain! Icy bridges and roadways can cause a lot of problems.
3. Plus, no one enjoys scraping off their windshields.
4. Missourians can get a bit panicky during winter weather. Sometimes just the threat of snow can cancel school and other community events in the winter.
5. However, we try to embrace the snow and cold. Some of our biggest parties, like Mardi Gras and Snake Saturday, are actually held during the winter.
6. Winter floods are not uncommon during a Missouri winter. You truly never know what mother nature has in store for you when you live in Missouri.
7. Missouri has amazing hills for sledding! Sledding is probably the best part about MO in the winter.
8. If snow is in the forecast, the grocery shelves will often end up looking like this.
9. Although we get snow every year, somehow we still haven't learned to drive in it. Prepare for flurry-induced traffic jams throughout the winter in MO.
10. All in all, winters in MO can be pretty crazy. You really never know if you'll have a warm, sunny day or a snowstorm. More likely than not, you'll get both in the same week!
