Although most people who live outside of the Midwest think all Missourians live on farms, that statement just simply isn't true. In fact, only 30% of Missourians live in rural areas. Many kids in the Show Me State have never actually been on a farm before. However, one farm themed park in Springfield is changing that for kids in the state's third largest city. Even if you live on the other side of the state, this park is so charming it's definitely worth visiting!
This charming farm in Springfield is actually a 207-acre park that helps educate residents about the area's agricultural heritage.
The Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park was opened in 2007 and features an amazing big red animal barn.
The farm is home to many kinds of animals, all of which can be found in area farms across the region.
Cows can often be found in the barn or outside grazing on nice days.
Oftentimes, there are baby animals on the farm. These adorable piglets, born in January, are the farm's most recent arrivals.
Once these little piggies grow up, they will enjoy wallowing in the mud just as much as their parents.
They even have some super cool goats that kids can pet.
Everyone loves miniature horses, Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park has two!
After seeing all the animals, your kids will want to visit the huge farm-themed play ground. It's definitely one-of-a-kind!
Throughout the year, the park hosts lots of events and festivals. One of the most popular events is the Harvest Festival in October. There are tons of activities for kids to enjoy!
Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park also offers an awesome corn maze each fall that your whole family will love.
Bring your kids for a fun and educational day at the farm! Admission to the park is free. However, some special events will have an entrance fee.
