While Missouri is home to some pretty amazing restaurants and historical landmarks, it's nice to step outdoors to enjoy some of the natural beauty our state has to offer. Today, we head to Bennett Spring State Park, which is located just west of Mark Twain National Forest.
Bennett Spring State Park was originally founded by pioneers who used the clear, rushing waters for gristmills.
Today, it has become a premiere destination in Missouri for trout fishing.
While it may be cold out, it's especially amazing to see how blue the water looks when the sun hits it just right against the barren trees.
However, when it warms up, it becomes a favorite destination among locals as a place to cool off in.
Or out-of-town visitors looking for a place to scuba dive.
In addition to its pristine waters, Bennett Springs also offers a pretty unique hiking experience.
If you have some time on your hands, hike the 7.5-mile Natural Tunnel trail.
This 296-foot-long tunnel was formed by Gasconade dolomite years ago and creates an S curve through the hill.
No matter the time of year, Bennett Springs is a place of beauty that can be enjoyed by all.
