By August, most Missourians are ready for fall weather to return and for the summer humidity to finally dissipate. However, the cool fall temperatures are still weeks away and if you're hoping for a cold snowy winter I may have some bad news. According to the latest predictions from the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Missouri residents can expect an overall warm and rainy winter season.
In typical Missouri fashion, wild weather has been predicted for this upcoming winter.
However, the winter season this year will start off colder than usual statewide.
We may even see a white Christmas this year! Colder temperatures will remain through December. Precipitation will increase across the state, minus the Bootheel. In the southernmost part of Missouri temperatures will remain above average while precipitation will fall below average.
You may want to ask for a new umbrella and some good rain boots for the winter holiday season.
The Almanac predicts a warm and rainy January throughout the Show Me State. However, the rain will only last for the month while the higher temperatures will stick around.
Temperatures will remain above average in both February and March.
These above average temperatures will likely make winter seem less brutal this year. You shouldn't be expecting to see many snow days on the calendar this year.
One thing Missouri weather will never be is predictable.
While signs of spring may come early with the mild temperatures and above average participation predictions. Prepare for another cool down across the state in April that could bring a late season snow day.
