Who’s ready for a summer of exploring Missouri? Exploring’s pretty easy, no matter where we live in the state. We have thousands of caves to discover; bike trails to follow, and beaches to visit. If you’re a fan of hiking or even if you’re just interested in starting it as a new hobby, plan a visit to Crowder State Park in Missouri, which will host short but fun Explorer Hikes through early September.
Lace up your hiking boots for a leisurely hike, led by park staff at Crowder State Park in Missouri, for one or all of its scheduled Explorer Hikes.
The Explorer Hikes will be held every Saturday morning at 10 a.m., through Labor Day weekend. Join other Missourians as you follow your seasoned guide along a designated trail.
Good news, too, especially if you prefer short trails or are new to hiking. Each week, you’ll hike just a portion of the trail, during which time you will get the opportunity to learn more about the wildlife and the vegetation in the area.
If that trail portion has you hooked, you can go back and finish the trail once the Explorer Hike has finished.
Missouri State Parks recommends wearing walking or hiking shoes that are comfortable. You’ll likely also want to lather on the bug spray, and bring some along, too.
If you’re up for spending the day at Crowder State Park, the park will also host Nature Games every Saturday afternoon, through Labor Day weekend, at 3 p.m. The games are free and will teach the whole family some new things about nature.
However, that’s not all. Each Saturday evening from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Crowder State Park hosts an evening nature program, where you can learn more about nocturnal animals, reptiles, and more.
Head over to the official website of Crowder State Park for more information on each of the free programs.
