Stop and smell the roses… at Mississippi’s All-American Rose Garden. This beautiful garden is positively brimming with roses -- but not just any roses. This unique garden boasts nearly three dozen flower beds, each of which contains unique hybrid roses.
The All-American Rose Garden is located on The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) campus in Hattiesburg.
Near the front entrance, it's pretty easy to find.
Quite the sight, the garden boasts 32 flower beds filled with an array of hybrid roses.
All in all, there are about 800 rose bushes in the garden.
A USM staple, it was planted by the local Rose Society in 1973.
Since then, it’s attracted countless visitors and received lots of praises.
For instance, in 1975, All-American Rose Selections, Inc. named it a "Public Rose Garden." And then, in 1992, it graced the September issue of American Rose magazine.
Today, the Southern Miss Physical Plant maintains the garden. As stunning as ever, it still draws rose enthusiasts from near and far.
"How far?" you ask. Well, botanists come from all over the world to study the rare roses that fill this Mississippi garden!
So, are you ready to visit the rose garden? Remember, smelling the roses is okay, but picking them is not. If caught, there's a $500 fine.
