With 25 state parks in Mississippi, the outdoor adventures never end. Sure, popular state parks like Tishomingo State Park and Buccaneer State Park are always a good time, but there’s one underrated state park in Mississippi that you might enjoy more than any others! Clarkco State Park doesn’t get nearly the praise it should. Let’s take a look at all the amenities at Clarkco State Park:
Clarkco State Park is an 815-acre oasis located just outside of Meridian.
It’s the perfect park for anyone looking to get away from it all for an afternoon or even an entire weekend.
Ivy Lake is located within the park, and it’s one of my favorite lakes in Mississippi.
Not only is it one of the most beautiful lakes in the state, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy it.
During the summer months, you’ll find locals waterskiing the 65-acre lake. There is a boat launch at the park, just remember that jet skis are not allowed on the lake.
Speaking of seasonal, summer fun...
...the beach is always a good place to park it on a hot summer day! There's a designated area for swimmers that's separate from the boats to keep everyone safe.
It’s the perfect lake for kayaking and fishing.
The calm waters are just dreamy year-round.
Drop your kayak or canoe in and paddle around the lake to see the park from an entirely new perspective!
Just look at those fabulous fall colors!
Ivy Lake is a hidden gem for freshwater fishing.
There are several piers peppered around the lake if you want to fish from shore. The lake is stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. Don’t forget your Mississippi Fishing License! Fishing licenses are required for everyone between the ages of 16 and 65. You can purchase them at the park if you need one.
You can also enjoy the lake on foot!
There's a loop trail that completely encircles the lake. It's about three miles long and offers some spectacular views of this unspoiled oasis. Get yourself an AllTrails + account beforehand so you can unlock premium features about the trail.
The park offers plenty of camping opportunities, too.
Whether you want to pitch a tent and sleep under the stars, cozy up in a cabin, or park your RV, there are plenty of waterfront campsites to enjoy.
