1. A Stroka Gene-us Alpaca Farm
Take advantage of the cooler weather with a visit to this charming farm, which offers informative tours that are perfect for kids and adults alike. But you can do much more than tour the grounds. 2. Mississippi Armed Forces Museum
Have some educational fun with a visit to this museum, which, by the way, doesn’t charge for admission. An incredible outing for all ages, the museum brings history to life through a ton of life-sized exhibits. 3. Simply Teavine
Rainy days are common during the spring season. Luckily, the state is full of places to have some indoor fun – and this tea room is one of those places. Perfectly secluded and housed in a rustic cabin, a visit will make you feel as if you’ve been transported to the English countryside. 4. Petrified Forest
Mississippi is home to a ton of natural treasures, including one of the only petrified forests in the U.S. Even better, you can easily tour the forest thanks to a trail that runs right through it. The fun doesn’t end when the trail does, though. At its culmination, you’ll find a wonderful museum that’s stocked with fossils, petrified wood, and minerals from around the world. 5. Grand Gulf Military Park
History comes to life at this 400-acre park, which includes forts, a historic cemetery, museum, and several restored buildings that date back centuries. 6. Mississippi Delta Railroad
The Magnolia State is full of beautiful scenery, and there’s a great way to see it all – the Mississippi Delta Railroad. An experience like no other, the railroad offers scenic rides through the Delta. 7. Red Bluff
If you’ve never seen Red Bluff, plan to change that this spring with a visit to what is probably the state’s best natural wonder. Dubbed the "Little Grand Canyon of Mississippi," it may not be as famous as its larger counterpart but it’s still sure to impress. Red Bluff is located just off Highway 587 near Foxworth, MS. 8. Port Gibson Battlefield
Many things have changed since the Civil War, but this battle site has remained virtually unchanged since the 1860s! Open to the public, the historic battlefield offers a unique chance to step back in time. The grounds also include the A.K. Shaifer House, which served as a Union headquarters and hospital. 9. Country Tyme Fruitstand
Basically a roadside farmers market, this delightful shop carries everything from fresh produce and homemade goods to gifts and seasonal décor. 10. Tuxachanie Trail
The last thing you’d expect to find along a 12-mile trail deep within a forest is an abandoned POW camp, but that’s exactly the case with this unique trail. 11. Natchez
Established in the 1700s, it should come as no surprise that Natchez is home to more than 1,000 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Luckily, many of the city’s historic structures are open for tours, making Natchez a perfect day trip destination. A great way to see the city is with a double-decker bus tour, which leads to over 40 historic buildings, homes, and churches. 12. Hattiesburg Zoo
Despite its smaller size, this 12-acre zoo continually impresses visitors. In addition to more than 80 species of animals from around the world, the zoo features rides, a high ropes course, splash pad, and its newest addition – the Sloth Experience.
